Take this course to learn about ocean issues and how you can help make a difference and protect and preserve them.
The Project AWARE course is about creating a global force of scuba divers and non divers who care about protecting the world’s oceans and choose to make a difference – one dive at a time. By earning the Project AWARE Specialist certification, you will be aware of the some of the major issues facing our marine ecosystems and know what actions you can take, to help protect and preserve them.
Taking dives after learning this new information may help you to see the underwater world with a different outlook.
Seeing the impacts caused by human influence can be a real eye opener, and can change the way you think about protecting and preserving the ocean and its amazing inhabitants for future generations to benefit from and enjoy.
You will be accompanied and instructed at your own pace by one of our multilingual Instructors, who will teach you all about ocean conservation and the 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet.
We teach all courses at your pace, which makes it the perfect holiday experience!

Depending on your personal schedule we will adjust the program for you and move elements of your personal course to accommodate for your holiday plans, but in general, these are the parts of your training:

Part 1: Theory
We will start off with an introduction & take a look at all the necessary paperwork before looking at ocean issues.
Through reviews with your Instructor, you will be introduced to the AWARE movement, and how you can be part of helping to improve the ocean and its marine life.
You will also be taught the 10 Top Tips for Divers to Protect The Planet. Simple actions that can make a big difference in your dives to help improve your diving and protect the ocean.
You will also use this to work on an action plan for you to able to make a difference.
Part 2: Open Water Dives
In the afternoon, we will head out on one of our custom built dive boats to gain more insight into the theory that you have learnt in the morning.
With your Instructor as your guide, you will be looking at impacts to the ocean and using some or all of the 10 Top Tips to improve your dives and help protect the ocean and complete your Project Aware Specialty Course.

TO BECOME A CERTIFIED AWARE DIVER, THERE ARE SOME MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Age
There is no minimum age to take the academic portion of the Aware Specialty.
Minimum Certification Level
To take part in the diving aspect of the Aware Specialty Diver Course, you will have to be certified as a Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification of another recognized training agency).
The dives are not mandatory, so you can still sign up for the course if you have no scuba diving experience.
Medical Statement
Insurance
If you are taking the scuba diving portion of this course, to comply with our dive insurance requirements, you will need to have proof (logbook etc.) of a dive within the last 6 months otherwise you will need to take part in our Crystal Dive Scuba Review before taking part in the course to receive our insurance cover.

Can I start my AWARE Specialty Course every day?
In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your AWARE Specialty online HERE. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per Instructor.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the AWARE Specialty Course?
Our schedules are flexible and we will do everything to adjust it to your travel plans. Please contact us to arrange for a schedule that suits you within the limits of the AWARE Specialty Course performance requirements.
What are the rates for accommodation in my AWARE Specialty Course?
For your AWARE Specialty Course we offer accommodation in a private AC room (choice of Double or Twin) at a discounted rate for the standard course duration of 1 night. There are also upgrade options available for the adjacent Koh Tao Regal or Beach Club Resort. More information here or just contact us directly.
What are the minimum requirements to start my AWARE Specialty Course?

How many students will be together with me in my AWARE Specialty Course?
We pride ourselves to teach our AWARE Specialty Course personal in groups of max. 4 students per Instructor. If you still prefer a smaller group or a private course please contact us directly. On the other hand, if you travel in a bigger group, please let us know and we will arrange for multiple Instructors to teach you together.
Will I see different dive sites during my Open Water Dives in the AWARE Specialty Course?
We have 3 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily basis, so you will dive at the best spots available for your AWARE Specialty. More about our boats here.
