MERMAID DIVING
GET INTO MERMAID DIVING AND JOIN US FOR A NEW EXPERIENCE!
Mermaid diving (or ‘mermaiding’) is inspired by mermaid lore originated centuries ago. Over the years, water lovers, young and old, fantasize about living as mermaids. Nowadays with the right equipment and training, you can make our dream come true! A chance to become a Mermaid- to swim and glide in the water as graceful as the mythical creature that fascinate us.
The Mermaid Program is designed to be a rewarding and fun experience, suited to anyone with an interest in mermaid diving and basic swimming abilities. Although this experience shares techniques and equipment used in scuba and freediving, mermaid diving (or ‘mermaiding’) is its own form of diving. The Mermaid Program is designed for non-divers and divers alike, as you don’t need any prior knowledge to enroll.
The Mermaid Program is not limited to women – in fact; male participants make up a substantial portion of those who enjoy mermaid diving. Although in English (and other, but not all, languages), ‘mermaid’ and its translated counterpart denotes gender, it is the most widely recognized word for both the mythical creature and mermaid diving. Therefore, although you most often hear ‘mermaid’ because it is the most recognized word, it is used as a gender-neutral, recognized and popular term that applies equally to males and females.

Discover Mermaid
Try mermaiding and discover why its becoming a popular way to explore any underwater environment in this highly flexible, and brief program to see how you like it!
This experience program introduces simple mermaid activities in confined water (i.e., a pool or place with pool-like conditions), shallow enough in which to stand. It is designed as a flexible, informative, enjoyable, and controlled experience centered on letting you discover what it’s like to mermaid dive.
The Discover Mermaid experience consists of two part:
- After signing up for the Discover Mermaid program you will listen to a briefing from your nstructor to learn the basics about being a mermaid.
- Follow by a shallow water session in which you’ll wear a mermaid tail (and depending on the situation, perhaps other additional mermaid costuming) followed by mermaid swimming, going underwater and games.
Experience duration: ½ Day
Basic Mermaid
The Basic Mermaid course combines learning supporting knowledge and principles with a confined water skill development session to introduce the fun of fundamental mermaid diving. The course covers mermaid diving’s background and culture, primary safety considerations, equipment and basic water skills.
The Basic Mermaid course consists of two parts:
- First you will be given assess to your Basic Mermaid eLearning material before your actual training day for independent study. On the day, your instructor will review your completed knowledge review and answer any questions you may have
- Follow by a confined session (which we conduct in our swimming pool) to learn and practice basic mermaid diving skills, problem prevention and handling, and how to make mermaid dives
Course duration: ½ to 1 day
Mermaid
The Mermaid course includes knowledge development and at least two water skill sessions that develop more dynamic mermaid skills beyond Basic Mermaid, including many skills that make mermaiding an underwater self-expressive art, separate from other types of diving. (Note that the Mermaid course includes Basic Mermaid, so you can start with Mermaid – there is no need to take Basic Mermaid separately.)
The Mermaid course consist of two parts:
- First you will be given assess to your Mermaid eLearning material before your actual training day for independent study. On the day, your instructor will review your completed knowledge review and answer any questions you may have
- Follow by two confined water sessions in swimming pool to learn and prepare for mermaiding, rescue/problem management skills and the conduct of mermaid dives. You also learn mermaid skills, such as dolphin (butterfly) kicks, C-shape and U-shape side turns, and some skills distinct to mermaid diving, including backward somersault turn, underwater handshaking mermaid bubbles, and back glides.
Course duration: 1 Day
Advanced Mermaid
In the Advanced Mermaid course, you’ll build on your Mermaid certification and apply it to the open water environment. You’ll learn the basics of how the open water environment differs from a pool or confined water (larger, deeper, more variable conditions) and be introduced to open water mermaiding techniques. You’ll also learn about aquatic life – what to expect, how it can affect you, and how you avoid harm.
The Advanced Mermaid course consists of three main parts:
First you will be given assess to your Advanced Mermaid eLearning material before your actual training day for independent study. On the day, your instructor will review your completed knowledge review and answer any questions you may have
- Follow by at least two confined water sessions in which you’ll learn to prepare for mermaiding, rescue/problem management skills and the conduct of mermaid dives. You also learn mermaid skills, such as dolphin (butterfly) kicks, C-shape and U-shape side turns, and some skills distinct to mermaid diving, including backward somersault turn, underwater handshaking mermaid bubbles, and back glides. (Basically, a review on the skills you learned from the Mermaid course)
- Then open water sessions in a dive site suited to mermaid diving in which you learn and practice the set-up, conduct and execution of open water mermaid dives, including environmentally friendly mermaid diving techniques.
Course duration: 2 days
