The Perfect Buoyancy Specialty builds upon what you have learned about Buoyancy Control as a new diver and takes these skills to the next level. If you have seen your Instructor hovering nearly motionless before and want to achieve that mastery, then this Specialty is a must-do.
In this Specialty course you will find out the real amount of weight you need, how to position those to adjust for your personal trim. You will fine tune your breathing techniques to hover motionless in any position and streamline yourself perfectly so as not to disturb the underwater world.
No matter if you are an underwater photographer, enjoy watching marine life, or want to dive into wrecks or caves – buoyancy control is what you need to reach perfection
The Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Course can be taken by anyone, no matter how many dives you already have under your belt. We will adjust the course to challenge you at your current level.
Teaching this course in small groups of max. 4 divers per Instructor offers you personal attention for the details you want to improve!

It only takes a day to complete the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course. It can be spread out or combined with other course parts as well. In general, these are the parts of your training:

Part 1: Theory
After an introduction to your Instructor and completion of necessary paperwork, your Perfect Buoyancy Diver Specialty Course theory is covered by self-study on your App or browser.
You will get plenty of time to self-study, before you calculate the amount of weight you should take on a given dive.
Together with your Instructor, you will talk about weight adjustment and distribution based on the sea water at Koh Tao, different visualization techniques you can use, breathing patterns, and some land practice with finning techniques.
Alternatively, or on top we may do a little buoyancy clinic in our swimming pool depending on how you are feeling with your buoyancy skills at this stage. We always find time to add this, if it makes your dives even more successful.
Part 2: Open Water Dives
After lunch it is time for us to get on one of our custom built dive boats and head out for your dive(s)
The first dive will have a strong focus on perfecting the amount of weights you carry with you, this prevents drag due to too much weight, and will help you to streamline yourself. Next practice on hovering in different positions – and stand completely still when surrounded by marine life.
The second dive will be used to perfect your trim, the hovers you practiced before and your finning techniques to avoid disturbing any marine life and conserve air.
On both these dives there will be some buoyancy games allowing you to practice and fine tune what you have learnt, to give you the building blocks that make you a diver with perfect buoyancy.
After your dives, we will add the information about your perfect weight with the suit of your choice and the salinity of the water in Koh Tao in your dive log book and you will be a certified Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Diver!

The Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Prerequisties:

Minimum Age
To enroll in the Perfect Buoyancy Specialty, you will have to be at least 10 years of age.
Minimum Certification Level
To begin this Perfect Buoyancy Specialty you will need to be a certified diver.
Medical Statement
You need to be medically fit for diving. You will find the Medical Statement for Scuba Diving here to download. If in doubt, please check with your physician or ask us before booking your dive experience with us.
Insurance
To comply with our dive insurance requirements, you will need to have proof (logbook etc.) of a dive within the last 6 months otherwise you will need to take part in our Crystal Dive Scuba Review before taking part in the course to receive our insurance cover.

Our Underwater Videography team, Crystal Images, is available to provide you with personal and lasting memories of your experience and offer unique underwater video and photo services for your course. You can choose from a 10 minute land and underwater based video or 10-15 high resolution photographs.

Can I start my PB Specialty Course every day?
In general, yes. We start our courses any given day. To secure your desired start date, we recommend booking your Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Course online here. This will guarantee your placement in a small group of maximum 4 students per Instructor.
Is it possible to change the schedule for the PB Specialty Course?
Our schedules are flexible and we will do everything to adjust it to your travel plans. Please contact us to arrange for a schedule that suits you within the limits of the Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Course performance requirements.
What are the rates for accommodation in my PB Specialty Course?

We pride ourselves to teach our Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Course personal in groups of max. 4 students per Instructor. On the other hand, if you travel in a bigger group, please let us know and we will arrange for multiple Instructors to teach you together.
Will I see different dive sites during my Open Water Dives in the PB Specialty Course?
We have 2 custom built dive boats and choose the dive sites based on your course requirements, comfort level and weather conditions. Generally, we change dive sites on a daily base, so you will dive at the best spots available for your Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Course. More about our boats here.
Can I take a Go Pro on my dives for the PB Specialty Course?
You can take your own camera on any of the dives. Be aware though, that you may be busy with the tasks at hand. A better option may be to arrange for our In-House Video & Photo company Crystal Images to either take professional photos or a broadcast quality video of you on your two dives on the Perfect Buoyancy Specialty Course.
